Rough Shooting Working Gundogs

Had a really good walked up day with Carl, his dogs were a delight to watch hunting, plenty of game, lovely country and good company. I will definitely be back.

Best walked up days I’ve experienced in over 30 years of shooting.

I fully recommend walked-up days for young/inexperienced dogs (and their handlers!) with Kugae gundogs (5stars). I wanted a ‘no pressure’ day where I could get advice, gain experience and confidence working my first gun dog (16 months) in the field. Karen and Carl met my every need and more. The day was extremely well organised from the start. Karen provided clear and concise instructions and directions ahead of day. It was obvious before we started the day that Carl is very experienced. Carl asked what I wanted out of the day and made sure he understood why – this was really useful. He provided help, advice and encouragement throughout the day. Carl is a straight-talker and gave me his constructive feedback regularly throughout the day. This helped me to course-correct as I went on. Carl clearly wanted my dog and I to succeed during and after the day. The land we covered varied from stubble fields, cover crops and woodland – all great experience for the dog and I. The hospitality was first class throughout the day (top notch ploughman’s lunch).

It was a rare opportunity to walk up game using your own dog guided by the keeper. Really relaxed day with a good mixed bag of English, pheasants and a couple of hares. Already booked for another day.

Absolutely an amazing day from the moment you arrive your made so welcome definitely rebooking for next season can’t praise Carl and his wife enough.

Second time we have been to Carl’s 1st visit was a great day 2nd visit was yet another cracking day, Between the four guns and Carl himself We had some great shooting and the dogs worked there socks off, woodland hedge backs and dykes along with the obligatory beet fields, a great test for us all, The one thing any of the four guns can’t speak more highly about , Is just how your made to feel so welcome and the banter we have is first class , Karen is the perfect hostess, and I have to say the soup is to die for, And in testimony of how great a day it was The same four of us have booked another date in January , Thanks Carl and Karen

It was a fantastic day and I would recommend highly. Some of the most exciting shooting I have done in my life especially the ducks.
