Set of Josiah Wedgwood Game Tiles *RARE*

Josiah Wedgwood Game Tiles

Description:

  • Full Set: The collection has four Josiah Wedgwood Game Tiles.    Produced in 1880s, these tiles are detailed craftmanship and very collectable.
  • Condition: As expected with antique items of this age, there are some slight edge-related chips; however, these minor imperfections do not detract from the overall appeal or value of the tiles.
  • Markings: Each tile is stamped on the reverse, confirming its authenticity as a Wedgwood piece.
  • Design: These tiles feature intricate designs typical of Wedgwood’s work from the era, depicting game and hunting scenes, which are popular motifs in Victorian art.

Josiah Wedgwood Collectability:

Josiah Wedgwood (1730–1795) was a British potter and entrepreneur, widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in the history of ceramics. He founded Wedgwood in 1759, a brand that became synonymous with high-quality, innovative pottery and still exists today as one of the most prestigious names in fine ceramics.

  • Josiah Wedgwood is a most respected name in British ceramics, and therefore his items are particularly sought after by collectors.
  • Rarity: Finding a full set of four in decent condition with only minor chips adds to the desirability.

This set will appeal to collectors of antique ceramics, especially those with an interest in Victorian-era decorative arts. The slight chips are a minor issue considering the historical and artistic value of these Wedgwood tiles.
