Who We Are

At the core of our business lies a genuine love for working dogs, traditional field sports, and strong family values. Meet the team behind the passion.

Carl – Founder & Head Trainer

Carl’s journey began at just 14 when he got his first terrier. Before long, he had three dogs, a lurcher, and a team of ferrets. Every spare moment was spent outside, learning the craft first-hand.

Over time, this hands-on experience became a way of life. By 2009, Carl had turned his lifelong interest into a full-time business. His deep understanding of gundog training is now the foundation of everything we do.

Karen – Media, Admin & Hospitality

Karen joined full-time in 2019. She manages our website, social media, and the day-to-day admin. Her natural love for dogs shines in everything she does.Whether supporting training days or greeting guests at events, Karen brings warmth and professionalism to every task.

Saul – Young Dog Handler & Under Keeper

Our youngest son, Saul, is already showing great promise as a dog handler. With strong instincts and boundless energy, he supports training sessions and helps keep things moving. His enthusiasm brings a lively and positive spirit to the team.

Carly – Puppy & Young Dog Trainer

Carly works closely with Carl, and focuses on puppies and young dogs. Her calm and consistent style helps lay strong foundations in the early training stages, setting dogs up for long-term success.

The Wider Team

We’re fortunate to have a dedicated wider team supporting the day-to-day running of Kugae. Paul plays an important role behind the scenes, assisting with underkeeping duties and helping with the care and handling of the dogs. His experience and steady presence are a valued part of keeping everything running smoothly across the grounds and kennels.
